Why Mental Wellness Really Matters for All of Us

Just this week, we heard about a well-known figure who reportedly took his own life. (It's debatable if this is true for this individual... but nonetheless highlights an issue.) We are hearing of many people who are choosing to exit at this time. It raises an important question—what kind of pain or hopelessness must someone be carrying to reach that point? To us, there is a big "elephant in the room" that merits more of our attention...
Mental wellness matters for every single one of us today, more than ever before! No matter how capable, intelligent, or “put together” someone may appear on the outside, we are all human underneath it -- and it is not an easy time on the planet.
Research from Dr. Daniel Amen suggests that the number of people with a healthy, balanced brain has dropped from 44% to just 13% since 2020. And when you really pause and reflect on what the world has collectively moved through in recent years, it starts to make sense. We’ve all been impacted—individually and in our relationships.
For a long time, mental health has carried a stigma. It’s been something we project onto “other people.” The ones who are struggling, the ones who are “not okay.” Meanwhile, many quietly carry their own challenges behind the scenes, telling themselves things like, “I should be able to handle this,” or “Something must be wrong with me.”
The truth is, being human means having a mind that can get overwhelmed, a nervous system that can become overloaded, and challenging emotional patterns that have been shaped by our life experiences. This isn’t a personal failure—it’s part of the human experience.
Something else we’ve been reflecting on is what actually leads us to seek support—or, on the flip side, what keeps us from it. As humans, we tend to separate ourselves through our perspectives. Sometimes we think we are special or different than others, and other times we believe we’re more broken than everyone else. But when you step into spaces where people feel safe enough to be real, you start to see a different truth emerge that is unifying, not separating.
Recently, Christine spent a week with a group of women where they all shared openly about their experiences, patterns, and the stories they carry. The authenticity and vulnerability were unparalleled with what we typically experience out in the world. And what stood out most wasn’t how different we were—but how similar. Different details, yes. But the same core struggles. The same fears. The same desire to feel safe, seen, and at peace within ourselves.
There is something deeply healing about realizing you are not alone in what you carry. We are all human, and this perspective brings us together.
This is one of the reasons we (Christine & Jeff) have chosen to deepen our work in brain and mental health. It feels more relevant now than ever. Through our training with Dr. Daniel Amen, we've learned there is so much that influences how we think, feel, and respond to life. And what’s most important to understand is that these patterns are not fixed. They can shift based on stress, environment, trauma, lifestyle, and support. This support is what we are here to offer.
Your brain plays a role in everything. It shapes how you interpret situations, how you react under pressure, how you connect with others, and even how you see yourself. Our unique brain patterns come with its own strengths, but also its own challenges. When you begin to understand your own unique wiring and brain patterns, something shifts. There’s more compassion. More clarity. And a greater ability to work with yourself instead of constantly feeling like you’re working against yourself.
There is so much we can do to support our brains and mental wellness. There is much hope.
When you support your brain from a physical and neurological level, while also understanding your energetic wiring (Human Design), you begin to work with your whole system instead of just one part of it. Your brain becomes more balanced and supported, your nervous system has more capacity, and your decision-making starts to align with how you are actually designed to move through life.
It’s no longer about trying to “figure yourself out” from the mind alone—it becomes a more integrated, compassionate way of living where clarity builds from within.
This more integrated approach is what we are continuing to deepen in our work. Beginning in July or August 2026, we’ll be opening up Elite Brain Health Coaching focused on supporting optimal mental wellness—bringing together practical brain-based tools with the deeper understanding of your unique wiring.
Mental wellness, in our experience, isn’t about fixing ourself. It’s about learning how to support our brain, body, emotions, and our energy in a way that works uniquely for each of us individually. When those pieces start to come into alignment, things begin to shift. We think more clearly. We feel more grounded. And life starts to feel a little less overwhelming—and a lot more manageable.
No matter where you are right now, I hope this gives you a little more self-compassion and understanding—and maybe even a bit of relief. Whatever you are experiencing is part of being human, and you don’t have to carry it all alone. 💛
